I had this same issue but in my case, as described on bug 65730, it was
because the /apps/gnome-power-manager/action_button_suspend gconf key
was set to nothing instead of suspend.
I have no idea how it got set to nothing, but I changed it to suspend
and now it's working again on my T60.

That's weird...
What firefox/dom-inspector version you have installed, Alexander?
I have firefox 2.0.0.1+0dfsg-0ubuntu0.6.10 installed here, but
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/edgy/universe/binary-i386/Packages.bz2
doesn't contain the matching firefox-dom-inspector (2.0.0.1+0dfsg-
0ubuntu
I can't seem to reproduce this any longer.

This is a similar issue http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7060
It may as well be what I'm experiencing since I had the battery
unplugged during all tests I did. Unfortunately I don't have my notebook
with me now, so I'll only be able to do more tests later today.

Public bug reported:
Using ondemand governor, frequency scaling works as expected when the battery is
in the system, both with A/C plugged in or unplugged. When the bettery is

I did more tests yesterday and the issue I have is in fact the same
reported in http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7060 . Although
the effect is the same, they seem to be caused by different bugs, so
I'll file another one and link it to the above mentioned upstream bug.
