There is not any crash, really that last problem I saw changing skin, is
different than I initially reported.
I think this issue can be solved for amsn 0.97.2 (including version from Ubuntu
packages) and also 0.98b from svn.

'sudo setupcon' fixes the problem, but it is necessary to run it each time you

Ubuntu 8.04 LTS now uses PulseAudio as default sound server. Then I understand
when I am playing audio with totem, PulseAudio is working for it.
Well, the problem is that PulseAudio locks the audio card, and does not allow
to Alsa play sounds
In first place, I have not yet achieve avoid the conflict with these
instructions.
In second place, Ubuntu is an operating system oriented to end-users in which
do something should be user-friendly, I think these instructions are absolutely
not user-friendly, and you cannot hope for a normal use
I think I have solve the problem:
First I install package: "asoundconf-gtk".
Second I go to System -> Preferences -> Default sound card
I select pulseaudio.
May be should this be done by default in Ubuntu??

Yes, i also had to install that package: "libasound2-plugins package" i forgot
to say it.
But after that it was necessary to do the steps i said:

OK, I understand, only say that i can heard login sound with actual
configuration, but i do not heard logout sound since i installed ubuntu i think.

Hi again, the suggested solution worked for me.
Initially, i had an Ubuntu 8.04 LTS installed with fresh install from Live CD,
in which this bug was not present.
I copied the root partition / in to an image file using partimage, and when I
restored the image from image file to disk partition, thi

Okay, i just have tested it on Intrepid, in a recent snapshot.
Now logout screen does not freeze, computer reboot. But the problem now is that
always reboot into default grub entry, and not into entry selected from restart
menu.

I think it is unacceptable an EULA in a Free Software system as Ubuntu, and
I think a package in main repository shouldn't have any EULA to accept.
