According to the outputs that you get, that really sounds like a Hard
drive which has bad blocks. Can you scan your hard drive for bad blocks
using this command?

Johan Brannlund : When you installed ubuntu the first time, the
restricted nvidia driver was not installed. Xorg can work without this
driver for sure but you have to use Restricted driver manager to remove
the nvidia drivers or Xorg will still search nvidia driver because of
/etc/X11/xorg.conf . y
If Dennis want, he can speak to ubuntu core devs, open a blueprint and
develop this if core devs think that it's a good idea. For sure, it
needs to be quality-code and it must be discussed with developers,
decisions in ubuntu only take part in team.
