Thanks for your confirmation. Normally, the /etc/usplash.conf file should have the same default resolution as Xorg. Can you change the values in /etc/usplash.conf to be the good ones and then type "sudo update-initramfs -u". Would be interesting to know if this bug is caused by this wrong configuration and if it still happens when usplash is properly configured.
