Is it possible to fix your software center instead of making us jump

Oops, I forgot.
I did more before trying to use software-center: I did an update-routine
which worked fine, then I tried to install libdvdcss2 from the latest
deb package from videolan. Gdebi crashed on me the first two attempts,
the third time Gdebi installed the library successfully.

I encounter the same problem with a fresh install of the final Lucid.
I am not asked for my password, so nothing happens when I try to
install. If I start from the terminal with gksudo it works as
advertised:-)
attached: starting software-center from terminal, with gksudo, and with
debug level=3
Thanks for taking time to report this bug and helping make ubuntu better. Can
any one please confirm if this is still an issue.
This is certainly fixed in Lucid though.

I solved it by adding it to autostart (gnome-session-properties) PolicyKit

Are you experiencing the same problem with the software-center? It

Rui,
I would suggest you open a new bug report for the new machine. Please
be sure to attach your sources.list and software-center debug to the new
report. This will make the bug report shorter and clearer.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Dave,
The debug info is from the machine that has been fixed after changing session
to gnome.

Guys,
I once used resource gnome session instead of normal gnome session and forgot
to put my session back to default gnome.
Today I changed back to normal gnome and this fixed the problem.
I checked on other stations and it's reproducible. It's still a bug though.

Does adding any PPA cause this problem to occur? or is it just one
specific PPA you were using?
If it is a PPA causing this problem then I should be able to reproduce
the problem and mark the bug confirmed. I will have time to work on
this in a few hours.

I see the same issue, it occurs for all applications listed in the library,
none will install and all fail silently. Using Apt-get or synaptic works fine.
All other buttons in the software center seem to work fine, its just the
'install' button and drop down menu item that do nothing.
