@r0lf Thank you for your comment. That comment of yours contains some ambiguities. '[I]ts clearly wontfix in the LTS.' Who or what makes that the case? You? '[W]on't be introduced in an LTS' - in _any_ long-term-release? Please note also that the workarounds for a permanent fix are not in fact t

BTW, are you saying that you experience this problem if you plug in the receiver and start solaar after that? That should be basically every time if you keep the dongle plugged in (as I do). For what it's worth, I do not have the hid_parser package installed, nonetheless I do not experience the p

Thank you for the further response. A 'new package would not be introduced in any LTS': ah, you mean would not be added after the fact. The next subsequent, scheduled LTS will contain the fix. (We misunderstood each other.) The (correct) PPA: that works; now I have Solaar 1.1.14. Ta. -- You rec

Ubuntu policy "makes" that decision: https://documentation.ubuntu.com/sru/en/latest/ And no, a new package would not be introduced in any LTS, certainly not for something so trivially worked around as this. I am sorry you see this as non-trivial even with three easy workarounds but I think you wo

Yes, certainly the next LTS should not have this bug anymore. It will have its own, new and shiny bugs ;-) Any release after o-release (I believe oracular or something like that) should not exhibit the problem you unfortunately experienced. That's why the ticket itself was set to fix released.

Closing as fix released. The problem is not present in solaar in o-series according to upstream. o-series has upstream version 1.1.13 which does not have this problem. Granted, this leaves noble being affected, but it's clearly wontfix in the LTS. The required hid_parser package is not available
