Reproduced this bug on 2.6.35-17 i386 (linux-image-2.6.35-17-generic
2.6.35-17.23).
The humour of the "fix" is the following: -17 kernel doesn't catch any stack
trace so I can't collect any debug info - there're no information in logs after
reboot.

System just freezes at one moment. Mouse, keyboard and screen show no activity,
sound plays last 1-second sample from the song which it played before the
freeze, etc.
Sometimes it appears soon after the boot, sometimes system can work many hours
before freeze.

Found another couple of things:
1. Bug is unlikely to depend on kernel version: I tested it on kernel from
2.6.34 to 2.6.36 (from mainline kernel-ppa), and it is reproduced on any kernel.

It came to light, that problem still remains, so I attached a number of files

Release of Ubuntu: Ubuntu Maverick (development branch)
Problem started: one day between 14 and 16 of August.
The problem:
Some hotkeys have changed their behaviour. When I press Alt+F2 there is two
events take place:
1) Screen starts displaying tty2;
2) Next I press Alt+F7
aah, there should be 2.6.35 instead of 2.6.34.

Same for me. Produced on HP TouchSmart tm2-1080er, Ubuntu Maverick i386,
kernels 2.6.34-7, 2.6.34-14, 2.6.34-15. Package versions are daily
upgraded from maverick repository.
