I've finally managed to find a better alternative to the Chrome
extension, which bypasses my blocklist of unwanted domain names:
pdnsd - a proxy DNS server with permanent caching
Although its latest version "1.2.9a-par" dates back to 2012, and it can
be found on Launchpad with some difficulty if
A temporary workaround I've found more practical than running "sudo
service dnsmasq restart" when such a problem occurs is using this Chrome
extension and switching to some other DNS server:

I've also struggled with this problem (package "grub-efi-amd64-signed"
refusing to configure) during system upgrade 16.04 to 16.10, and finally
managed to overcome it:
sudo ln -sf /usr/lib/grub/x86_64-efi /usr/lib/grub/i386-pc
sudo ln -sf /boot/grub/x86_64-efi /boot/grub/i386-pc

I think the new behavior to treat the Trash different from any other nautilus
window(s) does make sense.
In addition, treating each removable media likewise (with appropriate
"removable media icon" displayed on the Launcher" might also make sense
(unless opened from within an existing window).

I had this problem after upgrading from 15.10 to 16.04 several days ago
with only GTK3 apps, excluding those started with root priviledges as
well as other apps like Chrome, Thunderbird, VLC, etc.

Dave, what do you mean exactly by "linux-headers package"? I have linux-
headers-3.5.0.26 and linux-headers-3.5.0.26-generic, do I have to
install linux-headers-generic for fglrx drivers to install and work
properly?

If I logout and then login as Guest, it plays wav files, so the problem is
neither with a user profile or system-wide thunderbird installation.
I wonder if there's any other user configuration affected by thunderbird??

A full uninstall and then a fresh install doesn't help either.
Perhaps uninstalling and then re-installing the audio plugin(s)/codec(s) that
thunderbird uses to play wav files?
It's a pity that it doesn't accept any other audio file.
