Just followed the test again and this time I also tried booting using
recovery mode.
Ubuntu booted up just fine. When an option to continue with failsafe X was
offered I took it and then chose to run Ubuntu in low graphic mode.

opening it with the video player (stream the video file). This happens

I have a clean install of Kubuntu 10.10 and after editing a document for
sometime, the file dialog just hangs there.
Using the solution from comment #25 solved the problem for me. However,
this bug should be fixed because the native KDE dialog is far more

Some questions:
If the motherboard's battery is empty, can it cause the problem?
Does it reset all settings when the computer is unplugged from AC power?
I am asking these questions since every time a newer kernel is released
through the update system, the driver works until I unplug the computer
I found out that the fn keys can change the brightness right when ubuntu

After installing the nvidia driver and rebooting, a black screen

When trying to install sun-java6-jre, KPackakeKit downloads the packages, and
before installing them, it probably tries to display the license, but fails.
The error message is:
sun-dlj-v1-1 license could not be presented

My screen also flicker, and if I am trying to change screen brightness,
the screen just freaks out and starts to flicker without stopping.

Upstream has submitted a patch which disables gem in the kernel 2.6.29.
Will this patch solve the performance issues, or at least 'solve' them for the
final release?
Is this patch needed to be applied manually, or it will be bundled in ubuntu's

I updated the driver from the repositories from 2.6.1 to 2.6.3 and got
no improvements.
glxgears gives around 200 FPS.
Maybe KDE4 needs better hardware then the one in my laptop (lenovo 3000
N100)? or it is a bug in the driver?

still slow.

the problem is in the Linux resolver. Therefore, if Firefox doesn't
bypass the resolver, this bug won't be fixed.
