I hate to just be another "me too" but I'm running Intrepid. Every few
days I have to reset this box from the power switch. The culprit in
every case is that Xorg has completely frozen and the box is totally
unresponsive... sometimes I can move the mouse but all Keyboard escapes
are non-functional.
Still broken... but with all my "testing" I neglected the rather
obvious... to switch to another screen saver. The fact of the matter is,
this happens with EVERY screensaver installed by the default Ubuntu
Intrepid install. It's still related to compiz but otherwise I have no

FYI: The same exact problem happens when trying to enable restricted
drivers with ATI (fglrx). I didn't the oslib.py mentioned above, but
looking at another users suggestion, I used synaptic to install the
latest fglrx driver and THEN used jockey-gtk to "enable" it... which
worked.

I'm running Ubuntu Gutsy and until about 2 weeks ago, gdesklets has worked fine
for me through out Feisty and Gutsy (until recently). I can run the daemon
without any trouble. It starts up and shows up in the tray like normal.

went so disastrously bad for me on this computer. Knot 3 went great,
