Public bug reported:

If I run gdebi with a package (without right-clicking to open or double-
clicking a package) it comes up all greyed out... but it comes up just
fine. This is basically what I'd expect as I haven't given it any work
to do.

If I do a normal run, passing it a package to install (double-click or
whatever) gdebi starts up, begins running it's "loading" progress bar a
couple of times and then... nothing. It appears to be hung up and never
recovers. I have to forcibly shut it down. I don't know at what point
this happened but it's been this way for at least the past 3 weeks, when
I first noticed it (I only really use it, after all, in the occasion
that a package I want is not in the repository and has an available
package on the website). I posted to the Ubuntu forums and others have
seen the same:
