My system running 4.1 of Redhat, on a Pentium 100 machine.
The other day I noticed that I get an unresolved symbol error on 3c509.o when
I boot. I also wanted to
get sound up on my system. SOOO I thought I would kill two birds, so to
speak.
What I did was recompile the kernal with sound as
Just configure your PCI card as it was an ISA card in the kernel.
It will probe your card at boot time, and then load the driver compiled in
the new kernel.
I did this with mine. Search for Network ISA cards in the "make config"

I'm trying to change the default device that xbru copies to. Whenever I
launch xbru it looks for /dev/nst0. When I boot up it tells me that my
tape it /dev/hdc. I set this up in config BRU, it's a travan tape drive.

Download the ppp-howto. Basically your carrier is starting the ppp
interface (garbled text) and what you need to do is start pppd to
accept this information. If you read the ppp-howto and don't get

Okay I'm not gauranteeing anything but when I installed my Cardinal 33.6 I
ran isapnptools? something like that and it gave me what I needed.
If taht doesn't work there might be a way to disable PnP check your
manual.

What you need, is a utility called isapnptools. You need this to configure
the pnp -settings of your modem each time you do a cold boot.
I use it to initialize my SB32PnP, and it works great.

partition /dev/hdb5, my home partition, because the maximum number of
