I also noticed that it was missing the 'epson' driver.
It was fairly easy to get the source rpm, and add in the requisite
driver in the Makefile, once I had figured out what to do with
the source rpm to begin with. If you just --rebuild, well, of course,
your driver won't be added. You need to split up the rpm into its
components and put the components into the proper directories under-
neath /usr/src/redhat.
Look for a series of lines in the Makefile showing all the
devices. There will be a few blank lines; you can place the
extra drivers there, like epson, st800, stcolor, et. al., and then
recompile.
Now, getting these extra drivers patched into the .spec file may
be another matter. I'm not that well versed in rpm, but I am fairly
well versed in 'traditional' make; make install scenarios. I did
find the procedure of trying to grab the .spec file so I could just
do a rpm -bi or what have you rather tedious and confusing, though.
Also, even though I've got the new gs installed with the new driver,
I'm still experiencing difficulties grabbing some pdf files (such
as the tax return one provided by securetax) and printing them. The
best I could do was to print the tax return PDF with gs and do it
the old fashioned way by sending the images to separate files like
/tmp/wowie.01 through /tmp/wowie.12 and catting each file in turn to
/dev/lp1. Ick.
