It is much better now. Sometimes, when selecting all applications by hovering
after opening the menu by clicking on the plasmoid, it takes a few scrolls

This problem does not occur for all fonts. For the (default?) DejaVu Sans, font
rendering is fine. Using Inter or IBM Plex Sans, the font rendering is weird as
described.

I found a workaround: this issue does not occur in the X11 session. To get to

I can now confirm that it happens on every boot. The settings show a connected
mouse, which might disable the touchpad? There is no mouse connected.
