Hi all, something weird happened to my cd-rw after upgrade.
I upgraded to testing and installed the kernel-image-2.3.24-1-k6.
I logged on, ran startx and then ran xcdroast. Everything seemed to be working.
I put in a 650MB cd-r disk into my cd-rw drive and began to make a backup of some

I could read cds by mounting the device /dev/scd0. Hope this helps someone.
I would guess it's sg_mod and scsi_mod, because those are what it uses to
access an IDE CD-RW (plus ide-scsi, which isn't relevant here), and Linux
tends to use the SCSI sub

I rebooted with the burner on, and cdrecord outputs the correct info.
Even after turning the burner off and back on. But what modules do I
need to make it work? Right now, I basically have any enabled that
might do the trick.

Hi,
I have searched around the web and the little I found contradicted each
other. I at least these have sr_mod, scsi_mod, sg_mod, usb-storage,
ide-scsi, loop, ide-cd, cdrom. Which are important for a usb cd-rw?
The problem:

Any body know how to use udftools with 2.6 kernels? Do I need them or is
udf writing native to 2.6?
If I need udftools then where is this packet device that pktsetup is
looking for? I can seem to find the right menu item in
the "make menuconfig." to build the kernel with this device.

Hi list!
My Maxwell CD-RW's do not last very long. Got an error running apt-get
with one. Still had the .iso file so during the cdrecord run on woody,
the light on the CD goes out and you hear him making wheeling noises
inside the CD, but the whole system freezes solid.
I unplugged the power t

Could someone describe how to use the Pacific Digital Mach 53 CD-RW to
copy or burn data cds in Debian? Pacific Digital

Hi.
I'm netinstalling Debian Sarge from a minimal CD. I boot the CD and it
fails to autodetect the CD drive, maybe because it's a CD-RW. It's Sony
CRX175A1. The installation show me the following list of kernel modules:

I have burned some data (.mp3 files) on a CD-RW using k3b. It only used
about half of the disk. Now I want to add some additional files to it
(new session?) but can't seem to find a way to take more files and add
to the existing CD-RW disk. Am I missing something. Should I have
