Hi Jack, apt-get install cdbackup
This will work with any archiver, so you can use GNU Tar's incremental backup features to get what you want. I've only used it a few times, but I haven't encountered any real problems yet. One minor gotcha: be sure to insert the first CD *before* starting cdbackup.
