My Maxwell CD-RW's do not last very long. Got an error running apt-get
with one. Still had the .iso file so during the cdrecord run on woody,
the light on the CD goes out and you hear him making wheeling noises
inside the CD, but the whole system freezes solid.
I unplugged the power to the CD and one monitor freed up (I run the
super-duper *Backstreet Ruby* multi-seat Debian).
There I was able to invoke shutdown -h now, but not good enough
apparently: still had to use the red button... ;-(
