I spent some time on this only to find out that you had to comment

Making this configurable would bring awareness to the user.

splashy_config now writes a note asking users to run update-initramfs.
Note that Splashy is not a debian-only software and it should not call
these tools automatically (or at least a better framework should be
implemented so distributions can add their own hooks).

/etc/init.d/splashy is supposed to turn off the cursor and turn it
back on before X starts. Something is out of order in your system, or
the script is doing some form of a race condition.

At the end of stop_splashy() edit it like:

# Before X starts we need to turn off the cursor to avoid artifacts:

Ok, so this is not a problem with Splashy then.
Remove "splash" from the kernel arguments and leave only "VGA=791". If your

switch your kernel to one that works. Or, change your video card ;-) ATIs

In other words, do not even run keymap.sh or console-screen.sh if
splashy is running. Splashy will restart those services after it
finishes.
Please report back your findings.

Oh yeah? Weird! I thought that the submitter of the bug always get the
emails. I always reply-to-all. But, perhaps I missed a few lately
(blame it on the holidays for now)

u will see this in Splashy 0.3.9.
I'll look back at the bugs to see which ones we can close based on
your additions.

Hello Luca,
Thanks again for taking time to report this to us.
The problem with this fix is that we do need to do something even if
Splashy is not running. We need to figure a way to catch non 0 return
codes after each step.
We are working on this.

mfs, then you will need to compile it statically. There is
plenty of information on the README, our wiki, and the HACKING file.
Essentially, you will need to edit configure.ac and src/Makefile.am.
Just follow the comments.

Cool
Is this similar to the hooks we do with /etc/lsb-base-logging.sh ?
I'll look into it and
ded yet because we are all in "holidays" mode and the whole
release/bug-fix cycle has been reduced in speed ;-)
If you are reading this bug and you are having problems with gdm or any
other script, please just grab a copy of lsb-base-logging.sh and replace
your /etc/lsb-base-logging.sh cop
the directfb devels know about this
[1]. I'm trying to address that problem for 0.3.9. 0.3.8 is out and it
should fix most of the current bugs.
Sit tight as we are now in "holiday mode" and everybody is away from their
keyboards ;-)
Notes:
1. http://mail.directfb.org/pipermail/directf
If you have libdirectfb-0.9.25-x installed, can you please remove it?
It seems that even though Splashy links against libdirectfb-1.0.x (from
Sid), the binary tries to access the older version of the lib causing the -3
errors.
Please report back ASAP as we are getting ready to do a bug fix releas
shortly. If you can send us the result
of this test it will be greatly appreciated.
