I just wanted to confirm this bug. I'm having the exact same issue

Worked fine in 32bit but any non USB3 in AMD64 would not. I enabled IOMMU
in the bios and now everything works correctly (Jessie).

This seemed to happen right after I changed my desktop background using image
viewer 3.2.2 so it's possible it might be related. I had 3 .ICEauthority files

tickets, but it seems to unconditionally clear them upon exit.

I just tried installing the amd64 version of Debian Squeeze using the
latest weekly iso build and had this problem. The installer complained
that creating an ext4 filesystem failed. I dropped to a console and
checked syslog and saw the "mkfs.ext4: /lib/libblkid.so.1: version
`BLKID_2.17' not found

Attached is a suggested patch to issue warnings when nagios is not
running during reload, or when nagios is already running during start,
rather than exiting with a failure.

and reloads nagios in their postinst; this operation fails when the init
script fails, leaving the packages in a seemingly broken state.
