Since current 32bit flash support on amd64 seems to be dead, I gave
flash10 for amd64 a try. Just copy the libflashplayer.so to
/usr/lib/firefox/plugins (or wherever your browser searches for
plugins), and you are done.
Result: It works. No crash (by now).

I am also hit by this bug and I wonder if there are situations when
the problem does not arise. I have 400+ processes because of this bug.
If the problem happens on all installation, the severity should be
raised accordingly

Oops - my "fix" was not so good ("%.10g" was the right format to use
instead), but Jonas corrected it upstream - the status of this bug
could now be changed to "fixed in version 1.5.2".
