This is not a bug. As per the comments in $VIMRUNTIME/syntax/perl.vim,
you need to "let perl_extended_vars = 1" to enable proper highlighting
of complex variables.

Problem is in --configure step of installing. There is a bug in configure
script, I suppose that script want to run debconf-templates, but this
file doesn't exist (should be without s at the end).
apt-get -f install do not help.

I think the X server should be started with "-dpi 96", since that it
what Gnome sets the dpi to anyway when it starts. This makes the font
sizes consistent and more likely to be correct.
