[Bug 1568969] Re: FDB table grows out of control

2016-05-26 Thread Perry
This problem affects us. I have identified that the change
9063e21fb026c4966fc93261c18322214f9835eb is able to resolve it after
merging it to v3.13 kernel. Can we add the patch to new ubuntu v3.13
patch? Any suggestion? Thanks.

[Bug 1568969] Re: FDB table grows out of control

2016-05-27 Thread Perry
Hi Tim,

Can we add the patch into new v3.13 maintenance patch? It affects many
people and we really needs this. Please suggest. Otherwise we have to
build custom kernel and we don't prefer custom kernel. Thanks.

btw, I checked out Ubuntu-3.13.0-87.133 which has the problem. And after
cherry-picking 9063e21fb026c4966fc93261c18322214f9835eb, the problem is
gone.

[Bug 244069] [NEW] full screen terminal behind panels after workspace switch and focus is changed

If I full-screen GNOME terminal in a workspace, then change to a work

[Bug 305678] Re: Unresponsive extract button with multi-part rar file

2008-12-09 Thread Tim Perry
I get this as well. In fact, you don't even need to go up and down
directories, just focus the directory selection panel (say, click a
normal file, all of which are greyed out) and then click extract and
it'll work.

I get this extracting any file that I've tried, multipart rar or no. I'm
running up to date Ibex with file-roller 2.24.1.

I would also like to add that because of winbindd locking up, I cannot
use su(do) and therefore cannot kill or restart the winbindd daemon (my
tty's don't work, so I can't go through a tty). I have to restart my
computer in order to get everything working again, which lasts maybe
10-15 minutes until it locks up again.

[Bug 305678] Re: Unresponsive extract button with multi-part rar file

2009-02-13 Thread Tim Perry
Completely reproducible on any archive (either rars, as mentioned by the
submitter, or any zips or tarballs or even debs) both my desktop and
laptop, both running up to date intrepid.

Open any archive with file-roller, click extract and then click extract
in the folder selection window that appears. Nothing happens.

If you then focus the actual file/folder selection pane within the
folder selection window by clicking any file or folder in it and then
click extract, everything works perfectly.

[Bug 38915] Re: Logout proces hangs

2008-06-13 Thread Alex Perry
I have had this same issue since I did a fresh install on my current
machine when hardy launched. Currently, I'm using Kernel version
2.6.24-18, nVidia driver version 1:96.43.05, and KDE 3.5.9 (and using
KDM login manager).

Sorry I don't have any logs to attach, but there's no errors being
reported. The system goes to a black screen, and the only input it will
accept is CTRL-ALT-DEL to reboot.

2009-04-08 Thread Kenneth Perry
As far as i can tell : knetworkmanager is NOT being removed : its only
marked Wont Fix for Jaunty's release, since its not the default network
handler in Jaunty (see that its still confirmed for Ubuntu itself). The
replacement in jaunty is plasma-widget-network-manager : a plasma widget
for controlling network manager.

Re: [Bug 400635] Re: PDF Markup not showing transpanrency

2009-07-17 Thread Ricardo Perry
Yes it is reproducible, install PdfXviewer via wine
http://www.docu-track.com/download/PDFXVwer.zip, open any pdf file, markup
text, normally in yellow, save, and then open with evince.

I send a PDF that you can open this and 2 images after opening same file in
Adobe and Evince.

Best Regards

PS: You could implement those markup's and note taking in evince too!!!

[Bug 57164] Re: upgrade of xserver-xorg-core breaks xserver

2006-08-21 Thread Tim Perry
I've had this too. I've got ATI X800SE and im running dapper x86_64. I tried
both fglrx driver and radeon ('ati' driver has never worked with my card since
day 1).
I dropped back down to 1:1.0.2-0ubuntu10 and it's up again no problem.
I've attached my Xorg.0.log file in case it helps anyone find a fix.

[Bug 154504] Re: Gnome-panel hangs and allocates all possible ram.

2007-10-25 Thread Andrew Perry
I tried removing the Deskbar applet and Workrave ... those didn't help.
I'm running with the clock applet removed now too, I'll report how it
goes. I've noticed that the memory-blowout & hang only seems to happen
when I'm actually using the machine ... ie if I leave it logged in all
day while I'm not using the desktop, I come back and gnome-panel is
still responsive with sensible memory usage. I think its something I'm
doing while actively using the UI which seems to trigger this bug.

[Bug 148677] Dual Monitor Gui on Gusty X64 broke

2007-10-03 Thread Joe Perry
Public bug reported:

I loaded Gusty Beta 1 x64 on a hp workstation. Everything loaded great
and worked fine. Attempted to use the new Dual Monitor GUI and found it
to not work. Wasn't a big deal. Went through my normal process of
downloading the nvidia drivers from teh website, compiled them and
rebooted. Once back in the desktop setup the nvidia settings for dual
head. Life seemed great uptil reboot. Seems the dual head GUI in the
GNOME desktop is trumping my nvidia settings. Rolled my nvidia backup
to an old oirg.conf file and was able to boot into single screen mode.
Tried using ENVY to see if it would override it with no avail due to
driver or bit compatability issues with Gusty. I ended up reloading
7.0.4. Would really like to use 7.10 if the dual head tool would work
stand alone or if i could disable it from running completely. Either is
fine although I would like to see the dual head tool work right. I
would enable the second screen on it, configure the monitor and res and
close. On reboot no change, so I assumed it didn't work. I am running
a Nvidia Quatro FX 3500 card with 2 monitors on it. Thanks for your
time and efforts on this great operating system

I see where the problem lies. All the changes I make never take. I
even ran sudo displayconfig-gtk with no luck. When I add the
displayconfig-gtk to the bottom of xorg.conf and restart x, it fails to
load x. I tak ethe last line out and it boots like before with only one
screen. Not sure why it won't take the changes. I have loadd 7.10 back
on my machine to help in toubleshooting this problem and will try to
leave it on for a while.

2007-10-21 Thread Andrew Perry
I also see this behavior in Gutsy (amd64), previously upgraded from
Feisty. After a few hours, gnome-panel memory usage continues to grow
until the system starts swapping. After killing / restarting gnome-panel
the notification area losses it's icons and most (but not all) parts of
the panels are non-responsive, as described in this Bug and Bug # 144502

I realize this is an old thread, but I've just got this too, for no

(Note, 18 not 8). Not sure what this means, and nothing appears to be
particularly wrong symptomwise... Its just errors. And at the top it
seems to initialise with no problems at all. Does anyone know what the
wait status means?

[Bug 81170] Re: [feisty] etodo conduit times out when syncing with a palm device

2007-09-03 Thread Richard Perry
I can confirm the bug with one exception. In my case (Treo 700, Ubuntu
feisty, Evolution 2.10) I got this bug initially, went into my Treo and
fixed my ToDo's, and then the sync worked perfectlyone time. After
that, nothing. Same problem. Both sides have all tasks with due-dates.

The only thing I haven't tried is to copy my tasks by hand from my Treo
to Evolution, and then "Copy to PDA", to see if that clears it up.
Unfortunately, I currently have 71 open to-do's , so haven't had the
time to do that.

Ok, so now I have 72 to-do's. :^(

Let me know if I can contribute anything more.

This is when I scratch my navel and admit I don't think I know you, but
if I do...I really apologize for forgetting you (I am horrible on
names.) There are also quite a few Richard Perrys in the world. I'm the
one in Orlando, FL who works in aviation...

However, that having been said, sure, I'll be there :^) Where are we

meaning to go see him anyway, so what the heck.)

[Bug 124406] Re: Keyboard keys stuck using Feisty + Xgl + Compiz Fusion

2007-09-04 Thread Steve Perry
I have a USB keyboard and I was experiencing this key-repeat problem on
Feisty 2.6.20-16-generic with no Xgl or Compiz. After a while I noticed
that whenever I had a key repeat, my USB mouse LED blinked as well. The
key repeat occurrences were correlated with a message in dmesg like the
following:

[16705.323399] usb 1-2: reset low speed USB device using uhci_hcd and
address 3

When I unplugged the USB mouse (the device at address 3) and then
plugged it back in, the messages stopped and I no longer experience the
intermittent keyboard repeats.

This may be a different problem than cornelius is experiencing but the
symptoms (key repeats on Feisty) were the same.

[Bug 154504] Re: Gnome-panel hangs and allocates all possible ram.

2008-02-28 Thread Andrew Perry
It's certainly confirmed ... I've linked to the upstream bug(s) on the
GNOME Bugzilla. Hopefully the GNOME devs responsible will ask for any
extra info they need there ?

(The stack traces here don't seem very informative to me ... I may get a
chance to run gnome-panel under Valgrind [
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind ] later today).

For reference, it's this bug [
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=511994 ], and this one [
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487080 ] which looks to be the
same problem, but has been incorrectly marked as a duplicate of an
unrelated bug. There are probably a few other reports I've missed.

[Bug 195647] Re: language-pack-kde-en packages break KDE for canadian english users

2008-02-26 Thread Alex Perry
My Kubuntu system is affected, too. Adept updater indicated 4 new packages this
morning. After update was complete, a new Konqueror session wouldn't load. I
restarted X, and wouldn't let me past KDM.

Originally, I changed the LANG variable. I have since reversed the update by
using "sudo aptitude install language-pack-kde-en=1:7.10+20071012"

[Bug 154504] Re: Gnome-panel hangs and allocates all possible ram.

2008-01-22 Thread Andrew Perry
I still haven't isolated what's causing this bug, but it tends to occur
much more frequently when there are more windows in the standard Window
List applet (eg > 7 or 8). Things can be stable for 24+ hours with less
than ~ 7 windows listed ... once there are ~7 or more windows the
(possible) memory leak in gnome-panel manifests itself within a few
hours.

I've tried using versions recompiled from the Ubuntu source packages
gnome-panel_2.20.1, gnome-panel-data_2.20.1 and gnome-applets_2.20.0 but
this didn't help.

[Bug 154504] Re: Gnome-panel hangs and allocates all possible ram.

2008-01-24 Thread Andrew Perry
These are slightly different symptoms (but similar) to what I see. When
the panel locks up, window switching with alt-Tab works fine, and when
gnome-panel is killed in a terminal (eg $ killall gnome-panel ) it
mostly restarts okay (although sometimes it hangs again immediately,
sometimes not). Switching to a virtual console with alt-F1, alt-F2 etc
works fine (but can be slow if the machine is thrashing due to lack of
RAM).

After restarting X gnome-panel starts fine, as normal (but still hangs
eventually).

If it's the same problem as Elizibeth and I have experienced, the memory
allocated to gnome-panel will grow until your machine starts swapping
with lots of hard disk thrashing ... do you see this ?

[Bug 154504] Re: Gnome-panel hangs and allocates all possible ram.

2008-01-27 Thread Andrew Perry
Yes, I can confirm this behavior exactly. The bug only occurs when there
are >8 windows in the window list and it is positioned on a left of
right vertical panel. Thanks for spotting this Mr_C the workaround
is to put the window list applet on a bottom or top panel.

I thought it was an U7.10 x64 specific bug, however I've now reinstalled
with U7.10 i386, and gnome-panel also hangs when the Window list has >8
and is in a left or right panel.

2007-11-05 Thread Andrew Perry
evolution-alarm-notify kept sneaking it's way back on, so I hadn't had a
chance for a proper test over a couple of days. I uninstalled evolution
(and evolution-alarm-notify) just to ensure it was off, and I haven't
seen the bug since. I'll give it a few more days, then reinstall
evolution and see how I go.

Thanks for the tip, looks like it's worked !

[Bug 173392] ubiquity installer greater than given resolution

2007-12-01 Thread Brandon Perry
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity-frontend-gtk

Installing in a VirtualBox (1.5.2) VM, my given resolution was 800x600
(only other option was 640x480). This in itself is not a problem, but
the ubiquity installer's height is greater than 800, causing the OK and

The ubiquity GUI might actually be 800, but this doesn't take into
effect the GNOME panels being both above and below, causing the GUI to
be too large. It should be a simple fix as long as the widgets aren't
static.

[Bug 207219] Re: gvfs Issue with LAN

2008-03-26 Thread Tim Perry
Same problem.

I'm connecting by just typing into the address bar. Connecting with
"ssh://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/directory", "sftp://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/directory",
"ftp://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/directory" or "smb://ip/directory" (with or without a
specified directory) all give me the first listing of files and folders
for wherever, and then when i try to open a file or a folder nothing
happens and after waiting about 30 seconds i get:

"Couldn't display 'ftp://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/directory'.

Error: DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply.
Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the
message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or
the network connection was broken.
Please select another viewer and try again."

Regardless of the title of this bug, it doesn't matter if it's a local
server or internet. Essentially the whole of the virtual filesystem
setup in nautilus is completely broken (barring the first listing) for
me/us.

This is an upgrade to Hardy from Gutsy on 32 bit machine. Compiz etc is
going on (shrug). Nothing particularly special about the network, and
this server is perfectly accessible through gftp or ssh/scp with no
problems on this machine, and was perfectly usable pre-hardy.
