[Bug 370596] Re: Deluge Fails to Start

2009-06-04 Thread Patrick Walker
I can confirm the same issue, and it's happening on jaunty. I marked bug
#383509 as a duplicate of this one, but I am now unsure if it is the exact some
issue. The problem is that deluge starts up, and the gtk UI does not load. I
attempted to use it using the console UI and was able only to connect to the
local deluge daemon, but commands such as info do not work. To be sure, I
compiled from source, and the issue is still there.
Attached is the output of deluge --loglevel=debug, loading the default UI which
in my case is the gtk UI.

[Bug 201786] Re: ssh Agent admitted failure to sign using the key on big endian machines

2009-06-14 Thread Patrick Walker
I'm having the same exact problem, and the SSH_AUTH_SOCK=0 fix works. I'd
remove all my config files like previously posted, but I don't want to
reconfigure everything. I've tried search all of the folders Cédric Jeanneret
said were deleted for SSH_AUTH_SOCK and even SSH, but turned up nothing. The
search was peformed with grep -riHn 'ssh_auth_sock' /folder/path
Any other suggestions on what to do and or search for?

[Bug 363561] [NEW] right click add to playlist locks up computer

2009-04-18 Thread Patrick Walker
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: banshee

Release: 9.04
Package version:
banshee:
  Installed: 1.4.3-3ubuntu2
  Candidate: 1.4.3-3ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 1.4.3-3ubuntu2 0

When right clicking on a song and mousing over "Add to Playlist" my computer
locks up. The mouse and keyboard continue to work, but the GUI is completely
frozen, with the only way to kill banshee being to change to another display
via ctrl+alt+F# and kill banshee through the command line. This problem is
repeatable for me, so whatever extra information is required I'll be glad to
obtain.
Additionally, running banshee from a command prompt gives this error message
repeated over and over when the problem occurs.

Re: [Bug 363561] Re: right click add to playlist locks up computer

2009-04-23 Thread Patrick Walker
It can be fixed by changing this line gtk-menu-popup-delay = 0 to
gtk-menu-popup-delay = 1 in the gtkrc file of whatever theme you use.

Changing the line gtk-menu-popup-delay = 0 to gtk-menu-popup-delay = 1
in the gtkrc file of whatever theme you use fixes this bug, but it's
more of a workaround since the bug still exists. User installed themes
are in ~/.themes I found the gtkrc file under a folder labeled gtk-2.0

[Bug 405206] Re: Quod Libet errors when working with files on mounted NTFS partition

2009-08-02 Thread Patrick Walker
I went through your suggested checklist, and found this:
1) The partition is mounted r/w, and I have permission to edit files and
folders on it.
2) mutagen-inspect shows that the files are being modified
3) Running quodlib in at debug level 1 reported nothing that seemed at all
helpful, which is curious considering that the error still shows. I have
attached the relevant part of the log.
Even stranger, this was occurring on a file that it is not happening to now,
but still happening to other files.

[Bug 405206] [NEW] Quod Libet errors when working with files on mounted NTFS partition

2009-07-27 Thread Patrick Walker
Public bug reported:

Quod Libet will display an error when saving changes to the tags of .mp3
or .ogg files (I assume this applies to all audio files, but have no
other filetypes on my computer to test with) when they are located on a
mounted partition of filesystem type NTFS. The changes are saved,
indicating everything works fine, but every time it saves changes it
reports this error:

Saving example.mp3 failed. The file may be read-only, corrupted, or you
do not have permission to edit it.

Where "example.mp3" is the filename. This does not occur on the ext3
partition / exists on, but I am not sure if it happens with mounted ext3
partitions.

[Bug 434050] Re: flash not running in 9.10 alpha 64 bit

2009-10-31 Thread Patrick Walker
Can confirm that downloading and installing the flashplugin from the adobe
website fixes this.
http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10.html Link to website
Here's a quick and dirty command string that should do all this for you.

Steps taken, so you know what happens:
1) Kill firefox, to make sure it isn't running (Best to do this before running,
really)
2) purge flashplugin-installer from your system
3) get the archive of libflashplayer.so
4) extract the archive
5) make it executable (not sure if this is needed?)
6) copy libflashplayer.so to your home firefox plugins directory
killall firefox;sudo apt-get purge flashplugin-installer;wget
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/flashplayer10/libflashplayer-10.0.32.18.linux-x86_64.so.tar.gz;tar
 -xvf libflashplayer-10.0.32.18.linux-x86_64.so.tar.gz;chmod +x
libflashplayer.so;cp libflashplayer.so ~/.mozilla/plugins/

I tested the command on my system twice, so it should run fine for you.
I am assuming normal usage, if one or two of those commands varies you
should know why. (Not using bash shell, prefer aptitude, etc.)

[Bug 514967] [NEW] Tilda link interpreter fails on links surrounded by parentheses

2010-01-30 Thread Patrick Walker
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tilda

Description:Ubuntu 9.10
Release:9.10

tilda:
  Installed: 0.09.6-1ubuntu1
  Candidate: 0.09.6-1ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 0.09.6-1ubuntu1 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/universe Packages

Tilda makes links clickable, and does a fairly good job of doing so. However,
it doesn't work properly if the link is surrounded by parentheses. For example
http://launchpad.com/
Will be made clickable in tilda
(http://launchpad.com/)
Will also be made clickable, but if you click the link on on the right side it
will append the closing parentheses as part of the link and cause the link to
not work properly. This is easier to see with links that have a path such as
(https://launchpad.net/ubuntu)
The interpreter will allow you to focus on the domain (hover on the left) or
the domain and path (hover on the right) but if you click the link that
contains a domain and path it will append the closing parentheses.

[Bug 433661] [NEW] network-manager does not show wireless card after use of hardware/kill switch

2009-09-20 Thread Patrick Walker
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

release: 9.04
package version: *** 0.7.1~rc4.1.cf199a964-0ubuntu2

On my fujitsu u820, the wireless card kill switch does not work properly with
network-manager. When the switch is turned off, the wireless card and internal
bluetooth are turned off. However, when the switch is turned back on, only
bluetooth comes back on.
The issues are then, after the switch has been cycled once:
1) Network-manager disables itself and requires have "Enable Networking"
manually ticked back on.
2) "Enable Wireless" remains grayed out, regardless of the state of the kill
switch.

Playing with iwlist shows that wlan0 is set to down after the kill switch is
turned off. When it is turned back on, wlan0 remains down. Using ifconfig to
bring wlan0 up allows iwlist to use it, but network-manager still keeps "Enable
Wireless" grayed out.
Here is the output of sudo lspci -v for my wireless card
08:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR928X Wireless Network
Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01)
Subsystem: Fujitsu Limited. Device 147c

I just quickly did some further testing and found out this. If the
switch is quickly cycled, network-manager will disconnect and then

[Bug 432748] Re: Pulseaudio uses 100% CPU, locks up system

2009-11-12 Thread Patrick Walker
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu 9.10
Release:9.10
Codename: karmic

Firefox reports the flash plugin as
Shockwave Flash

File name: libflashplayer.so
Shockwave Flash 10.0 r32

This isn't JUST with flash, however. This occurs with everything that
uses pulseaudio, ranging from amarok to mplayer. It occurs more often
with flash, but that might be because I have firefox open more often.

I have tried the suggested fix, and so far it appears to be working.
I'll comment again if it doesn't.

[Bug 466935] Re: No Video Output in Karmic with ID 046d:09a1 Logitech, Inc. QuickCam Communicate MP/S5500

2010-02-06 Thread Patrick Walker
I have been experiencing this bug with the exact same webcam for several months
now. The camera is detected and shows up when I do an lsusb, but the video
device /dev/video0 fails to open. I did some research on google, and this post
seems to have a solution.
http://www.quickcamteam.net/documentation/faq/logitech-webcam-linux-usb-incompatibilities
Apparently there is a patch to fix this that is not officially maintained. If
someone could at least walk through how to apply it, that would be great.

2009-11-09 Thread Patrick Walker
Edited bug, as I am experiencing this as well. May be a duplicate of
#428130. I am experiencing this, but on top of this pulseaudio will
produce only static. It seems to only happen with flashplayer outputting
sound. As I also experience static, could it be a combination of this
bug and #301755?

I don't know exactly how relevant this is, but I am experiencing the exact same

assumed it was a bug in the old and no longer supported code, but now I'm
thinking it might not be.

[Bug 1951491] Re: Can't run snaps: .slice/session-1.scope is not a snap cgroup

2022-05-08 Thread Patrick Walker
Same problem with both 22.04 Server and Ubuntu Mate 22.04.
All the confined GUI snaps have this problem and thus can't run.
First, I encountered running MATE desktop via X2Go Server.
Then I tried to see if using xRDP would work. No still problem persists whether
I use xRDP or X2Go
Left unable to remotely run any UI confined snaps using Ubuntu Server/Mate
22.04 until fix or workaround instructions provided.
