Public bug reported:

As explained by Wouter Horré on
https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-
source-2.6.22/+bug/134477/comments/53, here's the bug asking for getting
USB mass storage to work with D40s running the 1.11 firmware.

[Bug 245118] Re: NIKON D80 with firmware 1.10 needs support in in unusual_devs.h

2008-07-30 Thread Guilherme Salgado
Is it really 1.10 that needs to be in unusual_devs.h? The patch at
http://lkml.org/lkml/2008/7/14/262 seems to imply that it should fix the
issue for D80+1.11 as well, but isn't it actually replacing 1.10 with
1.11 on the D80 section?

[Bug 369743] Re: python-pyinotify fails to configure on install, leaving broken package

2009-05-24 Thread Guilherme Salgado
It turns out the problem I was having was because of a custom version of
python-support I had installed, so it's not the same as this bug. Tom,
since it works ok for you now, I think the bug should be invalidated,
no?

[Bug 369743] Re: python-pyinotify fails to configure on install, leaving broken package

2009-05-16 Thread Guilherme Salgado
How can you tell that it failed to configure when installing? I just
installed it on a vanilla jaunty and it seemed to install successfully,
but after that I can't import 'pyinotify' in a python (2.6 or 2.5)
shell.

After a quick look, this seems to be a consequence of a missing
__init__.py in /var/lib/python-support/python2.6/pyinotify/

[Bug 259293] Re: Ecryptfs Private Directory Randomly Unmounts

2008-10-09 Thread Guilherme Salgado
My user has a cronjob setup to run 4 times a day, and every time the
cronjob finishes, my ~/Private dir is unmounted. I ran a small script to
print the exact time in which the directory was unmounted and then I
matched that against /var/log/auth.log -- that's how I realized it was
unmounted after my cronjob finishes. This is what I have in
/var/log/auth.log

Oct 9 18:05:01 feioso CRON[32102]: pam_unix(cron:session): session opened for
user salgado by (uid=0)
...
Oct 9 18:07:00 feioso CRON[32102]: pam_unix(cron:session): session closed for
user salgado

At that point my user's ~/Private was unmounted.

Re: [Bug 193751] Re: 'Wrap Lines' menu item is disabled when composing messages

2008-02-20 Thread Guilherme Salgado
Hi Basilio,

I saw your comment on b.g.o and realized what I want is to select the
'Preformat' option (which I hadn't noticed before) when I want something
not to be wrapped. Now that I see how it works and understand what the
difference is between the two modes (in 'Normal' mode lines are
automatically wrapped), it's easy to understand why the menu item is
disabled when in 'Normal' mode.

Although the fact that I'm not the first one to think the 'Wrap Lines'
item is a toggle button rather than an action (which wraps lines of
existing text) is probably a good indication of a UI which is not very
clear. (Note that this is the first time I'm using a GUI-based mail
client in the last 3 or 4 years)

Also, if you don't have the 'video' module loaded, the "video LCD0

work. For some reason that module is not loaded on bootup for me and so
the brightness keys don't work on my T60.

This has allowed me to disable tap-to-click (through the mouse
preferences) and I was still able to do single clicks with the buttons
(something that wasn't possible when I had the keyboard and mouse lines
in the ServerLayout section. IOW, that seems to be the only reasonable
workaround I found so far.
(I need to point out that I tested this by manually running a second X
server on another display, which is something I haven't tried before. I
hope the workaround still works when I restart gdm)

That's correct; the bug has been fixed upstream, but I didn't have the time

Since the patch author is claiming that his patch (which has been

get as many people as possible to try it and confirm.

[Bug 88836] [services-admin] New postgresql version is not listed

2007-02-28 Thread Guilherme Salgado
Public bug reported:

postgresql was recently upgraded to 8.2 (through an apt-get upgrade),

[Bug 80893] Re: [Feisty] Inaudible audio upon resuming from suspend-to-disk

2007-03-17 Thread Guilherme Salgado
I found that rebooting doesn't bring sound back --I had to shutdown, so
you may want to try that, ullix. (I have a T60, btw)

Also, the problem doesn't seem to happen when I suspend, so it may be
that bug 83509 is not a dupe after all.

Just tried on a 2.6.21-rc4 kernel and the problem persists, so I'm
afraid we won't have this fixed before feisty is released. Has it been

[Bug 89141] Re: fn f4 key no longer generates suspend with feisty on thinkpad t60

2007-03-19 Thread Guilherme Salgado
I had this same issue but in my case, as described on bug 65730, it was
because the /apps/gnome-power-manager/action_button_suspend gconf key
was set to nothing instead of suspend.

I have no idea how it got set to nothing, but I changed it to suspend
and now it's working again on my T60.

[Bug 78715] Re: Firefox DOM Inspector installation fails on Edgy due to dependency error

2007-02-22 Thread Guilherme Salgado
That's weird...

What firefox/dom-inspector version you have installed, Alexander?

I have firefox 2.0.0.1+0dfsg-0ubuntu0.6.10 installed here, but
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/edgy/universe/binary-i386/Packages.bz2
doesn't contain the matching firefox-dom-inspector (2.0.0.1+0dfsg-
0ubuntu0.6.10); it only contains the 2.0+0dfsg-0ubuntu3 one, which
conflicts with my installed firefox. If I manually download
http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/f/firefox/firefox-dom-
inspector_2.0.0.1+0dfsg-0ubuntu0.6.10_all.deb I can install it using
dpkg, but apt won't fetch it for me.

[Bug 75462] Intel Core Duo stuck at low speed without battery

2006-12-12 Thread Guilherme Salgado
Public bug reported:

Using ondemand governor, frequency scaling works as expected when the battery is
in the system, both with A/C plugged in or unplugged. When the bettery is
removed, if the CPU is busy, it keeps running at 1.66GHz,
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu[01]/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq shows 1667000. When
the busy job quits, the CPU drops back to 1GHz and
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu[01]/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq also changes to 100
and can no longer be increased. After reinserting the battery,
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu[01]/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq accepts larger
frequencies again.

[Bug 71982] Netspeed says my interface is down, even though it's up

Public bug reported:

Since I started using gnome's network manager, netspeed shows all my
network interfaces as being disabled, even after I choose the network I
want to use (with network manage) and log into it.

[Bug 72234] Thinkpad won't go to sleep if lid is closed and the AC adapter is unplugged

2006-11-17 Thread Guilherme Salgado
Public bug reported:

I configured my Thinkpad T60 to go to sleep when the lid is closed and
it's running on battery, and to blank the screen when running on AC
power. Closing the lid causes what I expect to happen in both cases, but
if I close the lid while the laptop is running on AC power and then
unplug the AC adapter, it won't go to sleep.

This works just fine on a Thinkpad T42 running dapper, and later I'll
see if I get the same results with a dapper live CD on the t60.

[Bug 73249] X crashes after a restart using dual head setup

2006-11-25 Thread Guilherme Salgado
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-i810

I configured my Thinkpad T60 to use my external monitor as a second
head. It works fine, but once I try to restart X it crashes, giving me a
backtrace if I try to use the dual-head config or a "no screens found"
message if I use the original config. Rebooting solves everything.
