Because the List-Id header is already there for just this purpose. It's
generally hidden from humans but always available to mail programs, which
is as it should be. The List-Id header is usable by Outlook Express,
Eudora, Netscape, Evolution, procmail, and probably some others. That
should cover the vast majority of this list's subscribers. 

It's not necessary to clutter up subject lines just to avoid educating
people on how to use the filtering features of their mailer.
