First of all let me say Thanks for all the help ive been getting. now here's the new twist the CD-ROM that has been giving me problems is an ACER IDE. 50x now i just put a CREATIVE Labs 48x back in the system to test it out as i just got it back from being repaired. Guess what every thing works with this one in music CDs play as soon as i put them in. Data CDs work fine unfortunately this CD-ROM has to come back out as its not working right in windows busy light stays on and drawer feels like its going to fall off so my question is what gives? why would one work and not the other. i would really like the ACER work as it is a 50x verses a 48x.outside of the speed and name brands both CD-Roms are the same IDE setup the same secondery master and using the same cables. Thanks again Jim John Aldrich wrote: > On Wed, 05 Jul 2000, Jim Travnick wrote: > > opps forgot to give a little more info said CDROM is set up as secondary master, > > have one 13 gig hard drive partitioned down the middle with win98 on first halve > > Red Hat 6.2 on second halve and loosing the rest of my hair but refuse to give up > > > What I figured.
