Good choice!  I know several ppl who have those things (the Rage Fury
cards), and their boxes lock up or reboot an aweful lot.  Pete applied
several (!!) heat sinks and fans to his and the system magically began
running smoother.  Imagine that  :)

>From your other letter, it sounds like you probably didn't have
/etc/X11/X symlinked to /usr/X11R6/bin/XF86_Rage (or whatever).  I don't
like the cards myself, but I've seen several installed and working under
Red Hat 6.0 and 6.1.

Attempting to run those cards with even the 16 color server failed for
me.  AFAICT, the card is 128 bit, and it expects to be treated like it,
dammit!!

They have  :)  They've released specifications to the 2d and 3d engines
on their chipset, and they've commisioned Precision Insight to develope
support for their cards (for XFree86 4, I believe).
