I haven't either and won't for a while luckily. But even that job market
is in the shitter these days. My sister(21) has lived with me for a year
and a half now, and it took her 2 months of searching to get a GRAVEYARD
shift as a waitress at denny's. And even after she got hired she isn't
full time, pending their expected pickup in business. Once/if business
picks up then she'll get put on full time.

And even if it wasn't in the shitter, I know people who've been
unemployed for more then 2 years, the bad part is their skills are right
in the middle, they are typically underqualified for half of the
positions or overqualified for the other half. I hear more and more
people saying they're getting responses from employers that they are
overqualified for a certain position.

seattle may be in the pits, but I suppose it could be worse..the upshot
is I live in the center of a tech heavy district, there's one sysadmin
job I want thats only 1.3 miles from my apartment, though haven't heard
from them in 3 weeks(my last interview came 4 months after I applied
so anything's possible).

everyone says knowing people helps get jobs..wish that were the case
for me, most of the people I know have been unemployed longer then I
have. Though I know 2 people at a local company which I applied for
2 sysadmin jobs at on the weekend. Though I don't meet all of their
qualifications(they want lots of SAN experience and big HP9000 experience),
my friends there said they would trade me for 5 of the current
sysadmins in a heartbeat, apparently the folk they have there aren't
so hot :)

I wish the Business Labor statistics site would update their stats
(www.bls.gov) I am curious what the unemployment rates are for the
various states(last I checked the last data was from 12/2002).
