Most likely.

There's a bunch of pertinent documentation under the /usr/src/linux
source tree, in a subdir named (as I recall) "Documentation". There
is a file in that directory named "ide.txt", and a subdirectory named
"cdrom" which contains more information, including a file named "ide-cd".

If you haven't read those, I'd suggest you do,... when I first brought
up an IDE cdrom drive here they helped immensely.
