Hi Cesar.
I have the D1,i find the grip comfortable and the camera
well balance with the 80-200f2.8 mounted.
The view finder on the D1 also tells me what mode i'm
in so i do not have to look up at the top, only when
i'm in a break mode(sorry Tom no pun here).
My main complaint would be weight,at the horse shows
its slung around my neck from 7:30-8:00am till
about 6:00pm,giving me a stiff neck.

My main problems with the D1H are:

Size/weight - The grip was uncomfortable after a while. I could not
have
the camera in my hand for an extended period of time, unlike my
Pentaxes.
The weight was another factor that was annoying.

Mode settings and verification - You have to be looking at the top
display
to verify wich mode (P A S M) you are set to. Unlike the MZ-S where I
can
feel if the lens is set to A, set the shutter to Auto or likewise the
LX
where with a twist of the shutter dial I know if I am in Aperture
Priority
or not. I found this to be very annoying while uusing the Nikon.

I look forward to a Pentax DSLR, but I cannot see myself going away
from
film. I can put my hand on the negative or slide, I have seen too
many
instances of a file not being recoverable from a CD.

Though the D1H has a great motor and I know many who take shots by
mashing
on the shutter button, I tend to do a shot at a time and don't need
the XXXX
frames a second rate. This could keep the size down. Look at
http://groups.msn.com/CesarsPhotography/secondouting.msnw?
action=ShowPhoto&P
hotoID=536 of a timed photo I took of my friend Julie at one of our
beach
volleyball outings to look at what I strive for.

                Just my thoughts,

                Csar

Still catching up after not reading the list for the
whole weekend....
