the tamron adaptall2 90mm MACRO is also outstanding but
its even lower cost than the S1, so its most likely the
best MACRO for the money.

I have the 90/2.5 S1 lens in K-mount. Other macros have come and gone, but
I've kept the Series 1. It's truly superb. Because focusing manually is a
prerequisite when shooting macro, I consider this lens the ultimate macro
tool for the money.
