After hearing suggestions and comments here, my idea is:
1 - Mark, who already has optimized files of all pictures, adds a "PDML Photo Annual 2008/2009" official frame to each of them and emails those official picture files ONLY to their respective authors.
2 - Each author either prints a good picture (or orders a lab print), signs it and then ships it to someone willing to collect and put together all the stuff.
Voila! The volunteer has got a special pack for the book to be auctioned, and each author can also put together a personal combo of a book and a signed photo of his/hers. This can be obtained by printing and signing more copies of his/her official PDML picture. Each author will then have one (or more) customized edition book :-)
This could also boost a bit the sales of books to be packed with special pictures.
