Yes, exactly. That's precisely what I wanted. It's the difference between carting about a two pound lump the size of a paperback book with an IR filter on the front of it and something the size and weight of an Altoids tin to do that simple job. And it does work nicely as a simple, external mount auto-flash for fill light, with more elevation over the main lens than the built-in popup flash and more power. I've been using the Sunpak 383 as a flash trigger for the Patersons up til now. It works well, but is a lot more to carry to do exactly the same job, and makes the camera clumsier too due to the additional size and weight.
