I don't think anyone can answer that question definitively. I'm happy with my
two *istD cameras. The battery grip is important to me as is the availability
of continuous autofocus in all shooting modes. However, I purchased my cameras
before the *istDS was available, so I never gave it any thought. I'm very happy
with these cameras. I use them for a wide range of hobby work and some
commercial work, including magazine car photography and stock photography. I'm
sure Pentax will eventually release an improved DSLR. They obviously intend to
continue in the business. At that time, I'll sell one of my bodies and purchase
the new one. I don't spend any time worrying about it. The current cameras are
serving me very well.
