I didn't get a answer yet probably because I wasn't very clear. What is the best and most complete way to format a hard drive. That will erase all files and vi***s if they are there. I'd do the fdisk command but wanted to make sure first what was the safest way. I'll then reinstall win98 second edition.
Fdisk is a better way than just the format command.
Incidentally, unless your hard disk is small (i.e., less than 5 or 6 GB), it would be a good idea to create at least an additional partition. All data could be stored on D drive, so if later you need to wipe out C drive (with the format command), matters would be somewhat simpler.
