Sandy, First, do you have a restore CD with your computer..if so, when you place it in your drive and restart..format should go smooth. Second, who is your ISP...if it is AOL/CServe...that may be your problem -- Jeff Intrepid Video TV/VCR Repair www.intrepid-video.com www.tech-repair.net

I believe there is a worm or boot v****s on my pc. And the only way I know of to rid it is do the complete format. I have a few books with information about formatting but hoped to make sure I do the right thing in formatting it. This is the best list online I know of and so thought I would see if anyone would have better advise for me. I have one drive and use win98. I have everything backed up to a cd. The computer runs very well when not online. Online I get disconnected and IE runs very very slow. I have been trying to decide what to do for sometime and believe the only solution is to format and start over. I was running Norton 2003 along with the security wall but feel sometimes it causes more problems than worth it. I know I should get it back on but have been trying to decide what to do. Taking it off did help browsing online run faster for awhile but it now seems to be slow again. The biggest thing I am not sure of is how to do a complete hard drive format to erase everything. Will this work it there is a boot v***s. Or is there something else I need to do. When I run online scanners from Norton, etc. they always say everything is okay.
