I would go straight to Debian personally, or failing that, Ubuntu server. Both are going to be good IMO.
I've used SuSE plenty in the past, but I find that the forums aren't as robust IMO, and when I want an answer I can almost always find one immediately for anything regarding Ubuntu (or debian). There is a lot of value in that for me. I also find that I can normally recover from faults with the apt package management system, whereas inevitably at some point I will fork SuSE up so much that the package manager will just throw its hands in the air and I'll have to rebuild it or roll back. Also, most web services company's offer Ubuntu/Debian as a choice for vm, so if you ever wanted to move it over to those, there is probably an easy way to import/migrate.
