MeeGo is not Maemo, but the lessons apply.

Also, I should have been more clear: it is enough if there is one
reference platform that is generally useful without non-free blobs, and
I do think free distributable firmware blobs that don't run on the main
CPU are OK, too.

I am not riding my usual Free Software horse here.  I genuinly think
that having essential, non-free components in the middle of the MeeGo
stack is a significant operational disadvantage if you want to build a
community, just as it is for Maemo.

I understand that the N900 wouldn't be a viable product without the
non-free components in it.  But I hope that MeeGo can be a viable
platform for building products on without relying on non-free components
in all its useful configurations.
