The Venezuelan government was indeed discussing with the US a reform of the Hyrocarbons law before the attack, so its reactionary content cannot be blamed mainly on the January 3rd attack but on the strategy of the Chavista bourgeoisie. Also, these discussions about reforming the law were done in complete opacity, without any democratic participation or deliberation, unlike other reforms which were broadly discussed in the past given the importance of oil in Venezuela's economy. Other strategic decisions such as the decision not to resist US pressure but to accept US control of Venezuelan oil sales, the decision to reform the mining law to allow US companies to control rare earths and valuable minerals, the decision to restore diplomatic relations with the US, among others, were done without any democratic consultation or even public discussion. Obviously communes had nothing to say before or after these measures were taken, which proves they have no power. Their economic irrelevance has been documented so it requires no more comments. What this commentator calls "the revolution" is simply the continuation in power of the Bolibourgeoisie, even at the expense of total capitulation to US imperialism. Everything else is "tactical" as long as the Bolibourgeoisie retains power, the communes themselves are also tactical, their importance is merely symbolic. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
