I'd like to offer somewhat compromise options {{KNNVectorsFormat}} or {{NNVectorsFormat}}. I still would like to stick to have "vectors" in the format name, perhaps for the same reason as Julie said, but it is ok for me to imply a connection to "nearest neighbor search" - as long as we use the vector format only for "vector search" (or "dense retrieval" in IR context). I slightly prefer "KNN" or "NN" over "ANN" since we do not necessarily need to restrict its usecases to "approximate" search?
