Moving to "contrib" makes sense to me.  It's useful and committers like me want 
to maintain it.  Correct, that "moving" (esp. to contrib) is not "deprecating". 
 I wish we would not use the "deprecated" word to refer to moving to 3rd party 
package either, but that's not happening here any way.
