   By "dedicated operation", I mean a method in the `Table` API. Adding this 
kind of thing is a lot of work, so I'd prefer a reusable option that can handle 
multiple tasks, like this:
   
   ```java
   table.maintenance()
       .removeUnusedSpecs()
       .removeUnusedSchemas()
       .commit()
   ```
   
   Another option is to do this regularly as part of snapshot expiration. Have 
you considered that? Since expiration already reads manifests that could be a 
good place to do this.
