I don't think that the complexity of the English source is a problem, making the translation fit in less than 118 characters while many of the western languages are about 20% longer than English by nature is the problem we will have a problem to fix. What happens to the localized manifesto pages if we can't make the text fit into that space limit?
Similarily, Asian locales are usually much shorter than English, sometimes more than 50% shorter and their translations of the current 10 points of the manifesto is in many cases already below 118 characters.
That's an interesting problem to fix though, I just think it will take a lot of time to create 400 twitter-ready strings so as to cover the 40 translations we currently have.
