From the peanut gallery: what identity changes, and what device are you using?

I have T-Mobile using the TMO-G4AR device and I don't see any identity changing,
none of the gateway address (192.168.12.1) nor either the WiFi user or admin id
and
password.

Apparently he is using a modem acting as an USB ethernet interface, that
randomizes the MAC for some odd reason, and ends up having a different
enx[MAC] interface name each time it is power cycled.

Historical background:
I used to connect to the web with a 56k modem.
My ISP terminated their dial-up service.
As I wanted the capability to connect from anywhere that eliminated all hard wired options. Cell service was obvious. All the local providers EXCEPT T-Mobile insisted my *ONLY* option was a smartphone(sic). The T-Mobile salesman asked intelligent questions about what I wanted to accomplish. He sold me a WiFi Hotspot. When I set it up I chose the option to disable WiFi. Effectively I now have a very hi-speed modem.
