vnstatd is the daemon component included in the vnstat package. It runs
as a service gathering data in the background and vnstat is the command
line interface for querying. When you install vnstat, the vnstatd
service starts running automatically (see: systemctl status vnstat).

How do you connect to this "T-Mobile device"? Over USB? I am not sure
what you mean by "identity". The IP addresses most likely changes
each time you reboot it, but vnstat does not care about that, as
long as the network interface name remains the same.
