I gave you the exact command you needed to type to find out which of
your network interfaces is your default gateway. You didn't use it. It
was:
$ ip route show
Instead you only did:
$ ip link show
…which gave us just a list of all your interfaces. From that list I
*guessed* it was the one starting "enx…". The "ip route show" command
will confirm.
The next question is if that interface changes its name every time you
un-plug and re-plug your modem, or whatever it is you do that resets it.
SO TRY IT, and let us know.
I suspect it won't change name. So then you have all the info you need
to run vnstat, right? If not, tell us where you're stuck.
It really isn't hard to make progress here. But this is one of *those*
threads, so all bets are off.
