I modified my apt source list in client to reference only archive.debian.org 
etch main, and then recompile acng from lenny (I had to install manually 
libz-dev and libbz2-deb (build-deps didn't do this trick, I suppose it would be 
included if I had installed build-essential though)

I agree with you, this is a wasting of time, because everybody could add that 
directive or recompile your backported package
