A more detailed description of the problem:

First of all other programs requiring CD's or DVD's work just fine,
except for Synaptic's add CD. Totem works just fine playing a Movie on a
CD or DVD. Nautalus detects and opens a browser on the CD or DVD content
OK. The CD or DVD gets mounted OK onto the desktop. The DVD's in
question work fine in the fore-mentioned applications. However there is
no dialog box saying "Packages detected, or something like that when a
CD or DVD with repository packages is inserted into it's drive. Only the
install CD works in getting the Packages Detected Dialog box to work.

The Repositories were bought from a Linux Store in Ontario Canada, made
by them, there is one CD and 6 DVD's to the set. In either Software
Sources or Synaptic Software Repositories, when I click on "add cd" in
Third Party Software TAB, it says insert the CD into the drive. When I
do this then it says "E: Cannot mount CD" - Right away. It comes up
mounted on the Desktop, and a browsers opens showing it's content. This
is what happens and what steps were taken to make it happen.

I have 2 Drives for CD's an LG 52 X CD drive, and a brand new LG DVD -
CD Burner drive. These sit on the second IDE port. There are usually two
Hard drives on the Primary IDE Port. --

The expected result would be that you click on Add CD, in either
Synaptic Repositories, or Software Sources, in the System
Administration/ Software Sources drop down menus. Then it would say
insert CD. You insert either a CD or DVD with 8.04 32 bit Packages on
it, it reads that media, then it would say enter a name for this disk.
Then after some thinking and saving, it ejects the CD or DVD in
question, and then offers up the possibility to put another CD or DVD
with Repository Packages on it into the Drive(s), until all 7 of them
have been read and named, then you answer NO to the possibility of
adding another CD or DVD, because for this set there are no more to do.
This is the expected series of events, that worked in 6.06 Ubuntu 32
bit. I do not have other CD or DVD's with repositories on them, to try.
I could stick in one from say 6.06 to see what happens, later today.
I'll send that report a bit later on.

Alfred! PS I could send you a screen shot of the actual Dialog Boxes
showing the results in order, from 8.04. You could then see what is
going on, in Pictures. That would be later today.

Alfred!
