@ David: Thanks for reporting this! Following the rules from the bugs- squad I had to mark this bug-report as invalid as the incident didn't come from an archives package. ;-)
I've had my test, to complete the positive impression you all gave me on this ppa-package. sudo apt get install ppa-purge ppa-purge ppa:clivejo/kdeconnect-kde This completed sucessfully. Bringing back, both archives versions for KdeSC-4/plasma-5 ... (see valid bug #1579436) Seems to be due to the KDE-meta and Kubuntu settings (see valid bug #1571688) Other impressions I had on the installation of the now fixed ppa- package, the installation asks to replace the RC-file. That question is adundant as it's necessary for the new features. In an ideal world this should be muted/overridden, as it may confuse the average user – plus raises a 50/50 chance of fault. Of course the impact is then that my previously changed settings (like clients/unticked options are gone, of course). I can accept this in exchange for the new features - y'all know that I keep on dreaming of an ideal world, as stated in my LP-Profile. But the professor of a friend keeps saying: "You'll better be prepared to harvest bug-reports on that, earlier or latter." Clive you can certainly approach A.Fiestas on this? The one thing that was discovered regards the messenger (Allo?/Standard) should probably be reported upstream to allow the developers to judge the situation on this from their point. Clive that are two arguments why to ask for getting this package into the archive: 1. It's the declared "stable" version / 2. better security in transmission. / 3. beeing inline wt Debian to have the ease to use the official 'Backports' That's easy for the current Dev.-release (suggestion: use the milestone- option, that's good for the monitoring – could even use "blueprint" - The MOTU's favour that.) For versions that are in the SRU-state the process is well documented in: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates Ever thought of the option to have a backport? https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports One last thing: You can protect your PPA from external abuse-suggestions by adding an approporiate comment in the field 'Description' - Best example for me is the xorg-edgers-ppa. This was done with the staging ppa's, after the same press-guy thought it would be nice to suggest adding them via his blog. btw: The Ubuntu-Developers got an appraisal in the Debian's changelog on behalf of verion 0.9g-1 -> ...
