@SabreWolfy I don't pretend to know all the details, but different
applications use different libraries. Some implement proxy support
directly, others depend on proxy support built into some dependant
library. From what I've seen a few Ubuntu applications are built on top
of technologies and libraries that were designed without proxy support
in mind. These are upstream libraries that are not maintained directly
by Ubuntu/Canonical developers.
